Pop singer, Madonna has now become the first pop musician to hit the billionaire status.

Riding on a career spanning three decades, the singer/actress has raked in a fortune fromsold out albums, concerts and tours, earning the recognition as one of the greatest female recording artistes of all time by Guinness World Records…

According to reports from eonline, the popstar who was named the top earner in pop music in 2012 has had her net worth jumping from $700,000 to an amazing $1billion, thanks largely to her top-grossing 2012 MDNA Tour.

The tour saw the singer perform seventy-two sell out shows, grossing an estimated $305,158,363, and also saw her rake in $75m in merchandise sales and $10m in TV rights and DVD sales.

The 54-year old has also enjoyed success off stage as her perfume, Truth of Dare saw her earn $60m.

She is also an investor in the popular drinks brand Vita Coco and gym chain Hard Candy. Retail experts estimate she takes home $10m from her Material Girl clothing line, which she runs with her teenage daughter, reports the Huffington Post.

Me and MI are best friends, that is all.
Tell us about this friendship
There is nothing to say about it really. We first met when I was in Enugu and he came for a show. When we met in Lagos, we hooked up and we have been doing stuff together musically. He is somebody who is very passionate about his music and I like him for that.
Where is the rumour of an affair between the two of you emanating from, even Olamide  mentioned it in his song?
I think it is just what you media guys started. We are just friends, and maybe you guys wanted a Nigerian version of Jay Z and Beyonce, so they just hooked us up by themselves.
Don’t you think MI likes you?
I saw his Tweet where MI complained that you had “brother zoned” him. (laughs) Leave him a beg, he is not serious, we are just friends. Even if we are dating, is it something I would tell the world?

New Pope elected: white smoke billows from Sistine Chapel chimney

 

White smoke pours from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, confirming that a new Pope has been chosen. At 6:40PM GMT.

Bells rang as thousands cheered and waved flags in St Peter's Square as the smoke signaled the election of the new pontiff on Wednesday evening.

The breakthrough came after the second vote on the second day of the gathering of the cardinals in Rome.

 NIGER DELTA OIL IS THE REASON NORTHERNER WANT TO DIE IN POWER

The revelation by Senator Ita Enang, representing Akwa-Ibom North that over 80% of the oil blocs in the country are owned by Northerners, ex- militant leader, Alhaji Asari Dokubo has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately revoke the licences.

“We must sound it clear to our brother, Jonathan, that if he fails to do something about it, we shall take our destiny on our own hands,” he said.

“It’s not a threat, but a warning to our brother to act fast.” According to the leader of the Niger/Delta Peoples Volunteers Force, the revelation has justified the reason behind the restiveness in the Niger Delta.

Asari said: “Can you now see what we have been fighting for? We own the oil and we are suffering for it. Is it a curse to have oil in our land?

“Now, you see why these Northerners want to die in power. The oil we have is being controlled by them. Is that not funny?”See, let me tell you, if Jonathan fails to revoke the licences, we will take our destiny in our hands. We will not sleep any more for people to take what belongs to us. Nigerians must stand to resist a set of cabals that turned our country to their personal empire.

“One single person is richer than Nigeria. They are sucking our blood. Our land is being destroyed every day. No water, we can’t fish anymore; the land is polluted. Yet, none of our people in the Niger/Delta controlls an oil bloc” he fumed.
